TWO became THREE!!!

It’s been forever since we updated our site and we are truly sorry! During our long hiatus, TWO became THREE!:-)

TaraTiwa

We gave birth to our bundle of joy Taraoluwa Tiwalade Akingbade (a.k.a TaraTiwa) on February 25, 2015 at George Washington University Hospital in Washington DC and our lives have never remained the same! She has brought so much joy into our hearts; its unbelievable. She has given us a new perspective into understanding the unconditional love that God has for his children. We are extremely blessed to have her and can’t imagine life without her.

How did it all begin? I have shared this story a few times to some people. Sometime around March of 2014 we decided that it was time to think about increasing the size of our family; this was after being married for almost two years (a year and 9 months to be precise). We took our sweet time to travel and enjoy just being “us” for some months. So we prayed and the journey began. Beginning in January 2014, I decided to download a period tracker app to help me track my cycle and it showed my fertile days etc. I have never been one to track my cycle; when it shows it, it show up, lol! Like I said, in March 2014, when we decided to start trying, the app showed the days that were estimated to be my most fertile. This was helpful but also kinda stressful because I began overthinking things and stressing Wale out. I will spare you the details lol!

Anyway, the night before father’s day, Saturday June 14, 2014, I decided to take a home pregnancy test because my monthly friend had not shown up and per my tracker I was late. So I took the test and it was positive!  I did not believe it and of course I went to the store and bought 2 more. Both were positive. I was overjoyed; I did not know how to hold it in. But given that the next day (6/15/14) was father’s day, I decided to get a Father’s day card. I got an envelope big enough to fit the home pregnancy tests that I took. I was going to wait until the morning to tell Wale but I could not wait that long so I gave him the card at midnight. When I gave it to him, he was confused initially like what is all this? Lol! Then he looked closer and was SPEECHLESS. All I heard was “Oh my God” Ooh my God, are you serious”? lol! His faceial expression was priceless. We rejoiced and celebrated and of course could barely sleep with all the joy in our hearts. Due to the naija in us, we decided not to tell anyone about the news; most people say to wait until the 1st trimester is over.

Fastforward to Monday, I called my ob-gyn and scheduled an appointment. They apparently had to do their own test to ensure that I was preggos just in case the home test was wrong. On Friday, July 11, 2014 we had our first appointment with my obgyn Dr. Marko (she is awesome by the way!). We did the scan/ultrasound and there she was! We saw this tiny little thing in my belly and also heard a really fast heartbeat. I couldn’t help it; tears came rushing down my eyes. I mean for the past 3 (almost 4 weeks) I knew I was pregnant per the home test but this appointment made it REAL. We took a picture of the scan and sent it to the soon-to-be grandmas and our siblings. Calls/texts/BBM & what’s app messages kept coming through from our family members who were excited for us as well. As the baby of my family, I think it was a shock to most because they could not picture the baby carrying a baby:-)

I kept a journal of some of my thoughts, feelings and prayers throughout the pregnancy and I took pictures as well; I will share these with you as I share the stories. So this is how it all began! Our bundle of joy is 9 months old now with a whole lot of energy! Eventhough she acts very shy in public; I think they shyness is from me, her mama. Contrary to popular opinion, I am very shy:-)

Glad to be back writing as I have delayed this for a longgggg time:-)
