Wedding Chair Labels

Hi friends!

One of the ideas we came up with to avoid seating arrangement chaos/confusion for those who were sitting in the reserved chairs furing the ceremony was to create labels and attach them to the chairs. It was one of our Do It Youself (DIY) projects. It was actually pretty easy. We bought the fun paper from Paper Source; and ordered the ribbons from Amazon. Then we printed the names at home. This is really useful; trust me… it seems like a pretty minute detail but it really helps people remember where they are supposed to sit.

“Rock the Trad” Photoshoot

Hi people!

It’s beena  quite a while… we know! Today, we wanted to share with you a lovely, creative photoshoot that we did with our friend/photographer – Dotun Ayodeji. Instead of the regular dress and heels type photoshoot, we decided to “rock our trad” attire. This is the same attire we wore for our engagement ceremony in Lagos; which was photographed by Jide Alakija… see pictures here. It will be a year since our engagement ceremoney on Sunday, woohoo!!! We went to some far place in MD; and had a great time. See the full blog post on Dotun’s blog here.

Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!

Pre-wedding party

First of all…

Wanted to thank you guys for the nice comments and emails (and prayers) from the last few months. We truly appreciate you. And for those of you that we are yet to meet, I truly can’t wait till our paths cross. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE…stay in touch…we would love to meet you.

So back to the topic…Lola and I obviously love our friends and family very very much, so it was an easy decision for us to take any opportunity to celebrate with them as much as possible. Since we had people coming from all over the country, literally, we wanted to make sure we extended the party.

The pre-wedding party took place at Vintage 50who also catered the wedding. Our friend, DJ Phemstar kept the music going. We had a very brief “words of the wise.”  Otherwise, we just kept it going with dancing and mingling. And of course Vintage 50 provided the food. We all had a blast…and it was a good beginning to what would be a memorable weekend for us.

Here are some of the pictures provided by our good friend, Dotun.

Wale - Thanks a lot! Lola actually has an event planning company – MasterPlan Events –

Dotun – a.k.a. the GREAT :-)

Wale being a photographer, the assignment was on him to hire the photographer. It ended up not being a simple task since he wanted all his friends as guests. Long story short, we ended up hiring one of the most amazing photographers in the DMV area – Dotun Ayodeji. Dotun and Wale are good friends…so it was a natural fit for him to cover our wedding.

We started off our wedding photography journey with an engagement photo shoot which most of you have seen. Wale and I got dressed in Yoruba attire and headed for the streets of Chinatown, Washington DC. I remember that day like the back of my hand; how I wore sunglasses and held Bukky Adefemi’s hand until we got to the exact spot we were to start taking pictures. It took me a while to warm up; but my darling Wale, the razzoid, quickly got into character, lol!

After this, it was a rollercoaster ride to do the next photo shoot because Mr Ayodeji is ALWAYSSSSSSS busy (Dotun don’t comment please, lol). We finally got together and did a couple more and then the wedding day was around the corner and Mr. Ayodeji scheduled a meeting with us to go over the wedding day etc. I had never been present for this type of meeting prior to ours with Dotun. I wanted to meet up at Starbucks or something for like 15 minutes. But NOOOO, Mr. Ayodeji said we have to meet in his “office”. I strongly advice all couples to have at least one meeting with their wedding photographer because guess what, when the wedding is over the memories live on through videos and pictures. The meeting basically was for us to go over our timeline to ensure that we had allocated enough time for pictures. Also, Dotun rang it in our ears to make sure we were on time and that our rooms were neat and in order so that it would not affect his pictures, lol! We went over a bunch of other things. I did not really have much to say because Wale and I trusted he would do an awesome job; we didn’t even think the meeting was necessary.

The wedding day finally came and Dotun worked really hard and it didn’t help that our wedding week was the beginning of the summer heat wave in DC. Everyone that saw Dotun that day really felt bad for him because he was drenched in sweat from the heat. He took pictures and captured all the details and moments and he behaved like the heat was not a factor. Wale and I are forever grateful to him for everything. Above all, the pictures are fantastic and we are excited to be showing it all to you. Please click on the link below. It is a slideshow of our wedding pictures by Dotun.
