Engagement Save the Date

Since my last post was on prints and wedding invitation, I decided to do a quick post for the save the date for our engagement ceremony which took place in Lagos, Nigeria. This was created by yours truly, yay! lol! It was actually pretty easy to create and I was proud of myself. The picture was taken by Dotun. We couldn’t have found a better picture for this save the date:-)

Wale - Thanks Enny & Jay!

Wale & I had a ton of fun putting together the prints for our wedding – save the date, invitation, programs etc. It all started when we met our amazing designer – Sarah Hitchcock. Wale stumbled on her work through one of the many blogs that we follow and we decided to schedule a meeting with her. After a few drafts and discussions, Wale and I decided on our “Save the Date” idea. One evening we had a light bulb moment. We had been struggling with the save the date theme; after a ton of research, we finally agreed on the theme. We immediately sent the idea to Sarah and she loved the idea. See pics below –

Sarah designed a sequel – the wedding edition – this served as our wedding program

Next stop was to decide on the wedding invitation. After having the magazine save the date, we decided it was only right to stay away from the traditional invitations (photos by Dotun) –

Thanks Sarah! you rock!

LolaWale Wedding Trailer/Short Film

Hello world!

Continuing our series on vendors, we would like to introduce you to our fantabulous videographer, Don Summers of Endless Day Films.

We met his wife when we attended the wedding expo – “Engaged.” We were at St. Regis hotel ( Recognize the faces in the 5th picture? Hehe!  Here’s the post about Engaged here. We met Don’s wife – Denise and were basically sold! We set up a meeting with Don to go over the packages they offer. After meeting with Don and seeing his work and the passion he has for what he does, we secured him as our videographer and boy are we happy we did.

Don put together a lovely short film basically summarizing the wedding day. He, along with his team, did a lovely job.  Please view the link below.

For best viewing, press play then pause to let video load completely; once loaded press play to enjoy. If you have a faster internet connection, click the “HD” button to watch the film in high definition.

In addition, some of my friends who attended the wedding sent me some clips that were recorded on their iphones. Please take a look at the links below. I loved the bridesmaids dance! – (reception entrance – starts with bridal party and ends with Wale & I) (watch our version on “You’re the one that I want”… don’t laugh, hehe!)

Contact Don for all your videography needs!!!

Vintage 50.

Happy One Month Anniversary!

It’s been a month already?!?! Wow! Wale and I woke up this morning wondering how a whole month has flown by already; we must be having LOADS of FUN! Weee!!!

Today, we will be kicking off our vendor series by introducing you to the main caterer for our wedding – Vintage 50.

(c) howder

Wale and I found out about Vintage 50 after we selected our venue – Morven Park. Vintage 50 is the preferred caterer for events at Morven Park. Therefore, we decided to set up a meeting with the owner, Anthony Cavallo. People… Anthony is the bestesttttttt! Excuse my “english”. Not only was the food great but Anthony was extremely helpful. He has a wealth of experience; he gave us all kinds of advice and made very useful suggestions to assist in ensuring the wedding went smoothly. He had worked with Morven Park numerous times before we came along and therefore he knew the ins and outs. After the meeting with Anthony, we were quite positive who we wanted to be our wedding caterer.

As we mentioned in a previous post, having a wedding in a venue with nothing except the actual space is a major production; Vintage 50 had to bring a catering tent to cook all the food; he also had to bring in water as the venue does not provide any water. He basically needed to recreate a kitchen and bring in everything he needed because there was no way to go back and get anything from the actual restaurant. Anthony also assisted in deciding on our Signature Drinks which was an attempt to mimic the famous drink known to most Nigerians – Chapman. We sent him the recipe and wa-la he made it. For people who tasted it at the wedding, we hope it was somewhat close to the real deal. Vintage 50 Restaurant was also where we decided to have our pre-wedding party. Vintage 50 provided appetizers/finger foods for our guests and also served drinks.

Anyway, if you need a caterer and maybe even an event planner (other than myself:-)hehe), definitely consider Anthony and Vintage 50. They use organic food; locally grown produce and meats! For the Nigerians – sorry he does not make Nigerian food. He could try though if given the recipe.

Have an awesome week!
